Smart.CONSERVE - Packwise launches project with Zentis, RWTH Aachen and Universität Siegen - Packwise

In the last quarter of 2020, the starting signal was given for the joint project Smart.CONSERVE. Together with the food producer Zentis, the University of RWTH Aachen and the University of Siegen, Packwise is developing a software and hardware solution specifically for use with steel IBCs in the food industry.

The background is provided by the quite demanding hygiene standards that have to be met, especially in the production and transport of perishable foodstuffs. These are not only influenced by temperature, but also by parameters such as solar radiation, filling pressure or contamination with other substances. This requires constant monitoring during the storage of the food as well as during the transport process in intermediate bulk containers (IBCs).

Within the framework of the joint project „smart.CONSERVE – Smart Container Services for Food Industries“, a combination of stainless steel IBCs with intelligent information and communication technology is to be achieved through industrial research and experimental development. The aim is to record and meaningfully evaluate all relevant data about the transported food along the closed cycle of the containers. The basis for this is the current Packwise solution, which will be expanded with additional sensors and functions.

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).

We are very much looking forward to the joint project to digitalise liquid containers in the food industry and are proud to be able to contribute our expertise in cloud computing software and hardware development.
