New Packwise Flow 2.0: The Next Generation of Software for Remote Tank Level Monitoring

Today, August 31, 2026, we are launching Packwise Flow 2.0—the next generation of our software platform for remote level monitoring and connected liquid tanks.

For us, this is more than just the release of a new software version. Packwise Flow 2.0 is the result of years of hands-on experience with our customers, their measurement scenarios, and the wide variety of ways in which tanks, IBCs, drums, and other liquid containers are used in industrial processes.

Over time, one thing has become increasingly clear: Remote level monitoring is no longer just about displaying a measurement value. Companies want to understand what’s happening with their liquid containers, identify relevant developments more quickly, and use the resulting data to improve operational decisions.

This is exactly where Packwise Flow 2.0 comes in.

The new generation of our platform delivers comprehensive improvements in mapping, routing, notifications, analytics, and mobile workflows—and was developed specifically to address the requirements our customers have shared with us through their daily use.

The technological principle behind the Packwise ecosystem remains simple. The Packwise Smart Cap connects the physical container to the digital world. It collects information such as fill level, location, temperature, and vibration. Packwise Flow consolidates these signals and makes them accessible in a single software environment.

This combination is crucial, because a single measurement rarely answers the operational question behind it. Knowing that a tank contains a certain amount of liquid is useful. But knowing where that tank is located, how its fill level has changed over time, and what happened along the way provides the context needed to actually work with that information.

That is the difference between simply digitizing a measurement and building a system for remote tank monitoring that can become part of daily operations. Packwise Flow 2.0 was developed to make this connection between measurement and process clearer, faster, and easier to use.


An Environment for Distributed Liquid Tanks

The more tanks and containers a company operates, the more difficult it becomes to maintain a reliable overview.
Liquid containers can be located at production sites, in warehouses, at customer sites, or anywhere along a logistics route. In traditional processes, the information about them is often scattered across different systems, spreadsheets, emails, and manual inspection rounds.

Packwise Flow offers a unified digital environment for connected containers—or, as one of the core principles of Flow 2.0 puts it: “a dashboard for every container.” This makes the platform relevant for both stationary and mobile applications.

For stationary tanks, users can remotely access fill levels and other sensor data. For mobile containers, location and route data add an additional layer of transparency. Companies that operate both types of assets no longer need to view these use cases as completely separate worlds. A clearer view of where containers are—and what’s happening along the way

One of the most noticeable improvements in Packwise Flow 2.0 is the mapping experience. The map can now be viewed in full-screen mode, while relevant container and process information is available directly within the geographical context.

For users who manage distributed fleets or inventories, this bridges the gap between seeing a container and understanding its current status. Instead of constantly switching between separate views, key information can be accessed right where the container is displayed.

Flow 2.0 also provides more detailed container routes and greater transparency regarding individual stops along a trip. This is particularly valuable for mobile liquid containers. A current location alone says very little about what happened previously. A route provides the missing context.

The link between measurement data and individual route segments has therefore also been improved. Measurements can now be more clearly assigned to the respective stages of a container trip. This way, users not only understand that a value has changed, but also where this change occurred within the process.


From “monitoring everything” to “focusing on what matters”

As the number of connected tanks grows, so does another challenge: No one wants to manually check every tank and every measurement all day long. Remote monitoring is intended to reduce operational effort—not to create a new form of manual monitoring.

Notifications therefore play an important role in Packwise Flow. In Version 2.0, they are easier to configure and no longer require creating a group in advance. The practical benefit is simple: Users can define relevant situations and have the system automatically report on them.

This is an important advancement for software designed to remotely monitor tank levels, as the value of such a system increases when users don’t have to search for information themselves. A dashboard provides visibility. A notification turns that visibility into attention. And as soon as these events can be linked to downstream processes, monitoring gradually turns into automation.


Simpler Onboarding—From the Physical Tank to the Digital Twin

Digital monitoring begins with a correct connection between the physical container, the sensor, and its representation in the software.

To simplify this step, Packwise Flow 2.0 is introducing a new scan app for iOS and Android. It is designed to make creating a digital twin easier and more seamless. This is becoming increasingly important as remote monitoring is rolled out beyond individual pilot projects. Connecting a handful of tanks is relatively simple. Connecting hundreds or thousands across different locations requires processes that employees can repeat quickly and reliably. Simpler onboarding is therefore not just an improvement in usability; it lays the groundwork for scaling IoT tank monitoring to larger fleets and organizations.


More Intuitive Software for Day-to-Day Work

The same principle applies to the software itself. Industrial platforms often become more complicated as more features are added. Packwise Flow 2.0 takes the opposite approach: additional features should not translate into additional complexity for the user.

Optimized user flows reduce the number of clicks required for everyday tasks, while a streamlined toolbar provides faster access to the most important features. This is important because connected container data is no longer used exclusively by a single technical department. Depending on the company, Packwise Flow can support supply chain management, logistics, operations, service teams, and management. Each of these user groups views the data from a different perspective.

A modern tank monitoring platform must therefore make complex IoT information accessible without requiring every user to become an IoT specialist.


From Individual Measurements to Analytics

Once the operational foundation is in place, the next question becomes increasingly important: What can companies learn from the data they collect? Packwise Flow 2.0 introduces its own analytics section with pre-built reports, enabling deeper insights and supporting more informed decisions.

This is a natural next step in the evolution of remote monitoring. Initially, IoT was primarily about connecting a container. The next step was to make its data visible remotely. Today, the challenge increasingly lies in interpreting larger volumes of historical and context-related information.

For liquid tanks, this can mean understanding recurring trends, analyzing operating patterns, or correlating measurements with routes, locations, and other events. The more experience a system gains across real-world measurement scenarios, the more valuable this database becomes. And this is precisely where the significance of the next technological development becomes clear.

Artificial intelligence is already changing how companies think about software. In industrial environments, however, useful AI applications depend heavily on the quality of the underlying data.
